Beef Rolls (German)

Yummy! Rosemarie brought these to the Christmas potluck in 2008.

Rub the beef slices on both sides with salt, pepper, and paprika. Spread mustard on inside of roll and lay two bacon strips on each one.

Put on top 1/4 dill pickle, 1/4 onion, roll up and secure with toothpicks or skewer.

Melt one tablespoon of butter in frying pan and fry for 10 minutes or until evenly browned. Transfer to plate. Add the other onion chopped to the pan and fry until dark brown.

Add tomato paste and stir until dark brown, add water and bay leaf.

Return beef roll to covered pan. Put in oven for 1-1/2 hours at 325°F.

Take out meat, put in 1/2 beef cube, mix flour with some water and stir into gravy in pan. Return beef rolls to gravy and let simmer for another 2 minutes.
